Burners: Electric vs Classic, What's the Difference?

Burners: Electric vs Classic, What's the Difference?

 candle oil burner

Both electric and classic burners are great, and it all comes down to personal preference. I have both in my home and use them both regularly to create a relaxing, vibey atmosphere. There are pros and cons to both, just like anything!

An electric burner, does what it says on the tin. By plugging it into a socket the heat from the bulb will gradually melt the wax. On the other hand we have a classic wax burner; a good old fashioned way of burning wax melts, with a tea light.

We compared the positives and negatives for both below, so you don't have to!

Electric Burners...

Electric Burners icon Electric burners generally speaking are safer, especially if you have young children and pets in the home, the lack of an open flame makes this easier to manage.

Electric Burners icon They offer more than just releasing a lovely scent into your room, it creates a nice vibe offering a brighter light too, doubling up as a lamp.

Electric Burners icon When heating the wax melt it slowly gives off a subtle scent, that isn't too overpowering.

Electric Burners icon  Electric burners help with creating a sustainable life, they can be used over and over again without having a buy replacement tea lights.

But, they're not perfect and do have some negatives...

Burners You are limited on where to place the electric burner as it has to be by a socket, which may not suit the Feng Shui of your room (yes I said Feng Shui, if you know, you know.)

Electric Burners You will have to replace the bulb at some point, adding more cost, which may not be ideal!Electric Burners

Classic Burners...

Electric Burners icon A tea light burner will give your wax melt a stronger scent throw because of the higher temperature, which is ideal for those who want to be able to smell the fragrance strongly.

Electric Burners icon Offers a calming ambience that we all love when burning wax melts, candle light is so relaxing!

Electric Burners icon You can place your classic burner anywhere around your home (keep away from carpets/curtains).

And just like electric burners, they're not perfect...

Electric Burners icon Safety can be a concern for classic burners, as with the tea light there is an open flame and should not be left unattended.

Electric Burners icon As there is a higher temperature the wax melt may burn quicker, so it will not last as long!

What We Think...

If I had to make a decision, I would choose electric burners. Mainly because I am in love with my electric burner, the atmosphere it creates in my room is so lovely. I love how it slowly and subtly releases the fragrance, its honestly perfect.

As, usual I asked the other gals in the office which type of burner they prefer...

I prefer the classic burners I love the light that comes of a little tea light, I find it so soothing. Also the scent is a lot stronger when burning which is always lovely!

I love the classic burners because I like the patterns that are created on the wall from the tea light, the atmosphere it creates is so so so nice. I find is so relaxing.

- Lois

Both do offer what you're looking for and create a soothing atmosphere and release a beautiful scent into your room, which is what we're all after! It comes down to your home and what you think looks best and fits in with the décor.
